Darkened Highways

about

Recorded at the Cathouse Studios for a local art film

lyrics

So many
Darkened highways
Going my way
What can I say
I've seen so many pass along these byways
Seen that dark cloud carry them away

And I wonder with the morning coming
Will we all stand by and by
With that mystery unveiled
And all that drumming
Can we even hope to understand
the Why.

And though the rocks may melt away
And the sky may burn above
Let the seasons change
Let the world rearrange
Let the stars fall from the sky
Let the days collide with night
It will be all right

When I'm walking
On my ceiling
I get a feeling I can't hide
I sometimes dark winds come a'callin'
Heavy falling of the footsteps
In the mind
And the shapes of hope that pull into the station
Will one day fall away and subside
I hear that lonesome word emancipation
As it slowly drifts away into the tide

And though the rocks may melt away
And the sky may burn above
Let the seasons change
Let the world rearrange
Let the stars fall from the sky
Let the day collide with night
Let the days fall from the year
and the world die in fear
Let our names all be forgotten
and the vegetables go rotten
Let the wolves and tigers clear away the night
It will be all right
